"I have long drawn inspiration from nature for my work. Walking along the Han River in early spring, wading in pebble-strewn beaches in midsummer, or passing by a stone wall in late autumn, I encounter scattered elements of calm, wind, and quietude. When I release the fixation on 'creating,' my work becomes an 'encounter.' It’s like picking up a twig along a path, where the faint scent of soil inspires me, or hearing the distant echoes of waves through the warmth of a stone handed to me by my son at the beach."

While nature may seem like a cliché in art, Hye-Jung Sin’s work finds uniqueness in the untouched beauty of natural forms, distinct from man-made objects. She treasures the delicate, unclaimed elements she finds, like winter branches awaiting spring, translating them into metal. Her work, such as autumn leaves falling with the wind or stones echoing waves, transcends form and evokes a visceral connection to nature. She finds solace in humble objects left untouched, seeing her metalwork as a way of adding time and attention to them. In a world where few encounter unfiltered nature, Sin believes that nature offers restoration and release from societal pressures, symbolizing a deep, boundary-free beauty and universal language that remains humanity's most compelling medium for expression.
